Week 23 • Play Photo Challenge

As our children grow and approach their teen years it is a precious moment that we find ourselves relaxed and truly enjoying motherhood. This photo stuck in my mind as a precious playful moment between a mother and her daughters. For more playful photo entries, visit i heart faces.

Week 21 - “Yellow” Photo Challenge!

I snapped this photo of my daughter (in her goalie jersey, she has practice this afternoon) and captured her combing her stuffed bear. Remember combing your stuffed animals - this took me back 30 years and brought a smile to my face. I love her focused look. At 10 my daughter will not pose for me, but capturing this moment means so much more to me, and when I showed her the photo - she said "cool." That is about all the accolade that I need. Visit I heart faces to see more yellow!

I ♥ Faces Challenge 'SMILE' - week 17

This week is a SMILE challenge and just looking at all the entries puts a smile on my face! My entry is my brother and my daughter. Kevin is celebrating his college graduation. Kevin and Klarisa have been kindred spirits - since the day she was born he has adored her, and she always smiled for him as a baby...and that has not changed 7 years later.

Communal Global - "Your Today"

I have never done a self portrait. When I think about "my today" I think about my kids, family, sports, work, everything except me. Today I decided to think about myself. It is liberating, and exhausting at the same time - to be honest - it is much easier to think about everybody else - keeps my mind from dwelling on the parts of me I don't like.

Head on over to http://communalglobal.blogspot.com/ and check out the other fabulous "Todays".

I Heart Faces "Dramatic B&W" Challenge

It was a spontaneous moment of my younger sister and her baby playing a game of peek-a-boo with me. I loved how I caught just a bit of my sister (all smiles) and her baby as serious as can be...this photo just makes me smile. View other great entries at...

Week 11 - “Bundled Up”

She is not as bundled up as she should have been - it was a cold day at the beach! But look at her smile, I was freezing and she was as happy as a clam!! Check out the other great entries at I heart faces.

Week 8 - “Hands-On Fun”

It's all about hands today and this photo is one of my favorites. These are hands of a 65 year old scuba diver. He was showing the kids how a moon snail lives in and out of his shell. Check out the other great entries at I heart faces.

Week 2: Photo Challenge - Best Face Photo

I could not pass up posting this photo. This Christmas season I worked as a photographer for a local Santa Land. This is Santa Phil (real beard) and my 10 & 12 year old. I am pretty sure they still believe in the magic of Christmas and I am pretty sure they believe because they see the joy it gives me!

I "Heart Faces" Photo Challenge

I am so excited at all the cool photos being submitted for this contest. The creativity is awesome. I had a ton of ideas in my head, but execution was a bit more challenging than I anticipated. Nevertheless, I was able to showcase a few of the favorite faces in my life - I hope you enjoy them.

What made you think you could score a goal on me??

My niece having some fun playing the keyboard.

Are you looking at me??

29 Day Giving Challenge

Yesterday I was at the bookstore, a place I have adopted as my "sitting ground" during my daughter's soccer practice. I was in the "self-help" section - for some reason I am drawn to that area of the bookstore. I was attracted to the cover of the book 29 Gifts. I opened it up and stood there and read for the next 90 minutes. I was sucked into this book and the message it was espousing. If you have a chance please visit the website www.29gits.org. I will be posting my 29 gifts on-line. Which means by putting this in print, I kind of have to stick to it - that is a risk and one I am going to take. My first gift is this post. It is a gift to Cami and her cause. Thank you Cami, for making me realize I have a lot to give.

Week 43 - "Balloons" Photo Challenge

I am thinking this is a perfect photo for "Fix-it Friday". I would love to know how to eliminate shadows. Regardless, I could not pass up posting this photo featuring my niece. It was her 2nd birthday and she had this group of balloons that was twice as big as her. She was literally in awe of the balloons. Visit I Faces for more photo fun.

Sports Photography

One of the areas of photography that gets my undivided attention is sports. I just completed a class and took away some helpful hints. I photographed using a 300mm fixed, f/2.8 Nikon lens. Press passes got his on the field for the UC Davis Aggies vs the Portland State Vikings football game. My heart will always be with photographing my kids sports, but for this class these were my two favorite shot.

I love faces: Halloween Dress-Up

This is my first time entering, though I have been lurking for a while. I love taking photos, mostly of my children and sports. This is one of my favorites of my daughter. This was her first halloween, just 11 months old. She is still my 'lil pumpkin. Check out I ♥ Faces for more photos.

Lesson in motion

I took a photo class a couple weeks ago and our task was to capture motion. Our adventure took us to the Portland Saturday Market - where motion is around every corner. The expression of this street perfomer was a true indication that he had found happiness. Whether or not the happiness was being in the moment or his life's passion it was a true reflection of doing what he loved.

Summer Fun

Photography is my passion. I take my camera with me as if it was an appendage I cannot live without. These photos were taken of my niece at the local pool. She is almost 2, and I was watching her and swimming with her and when I could capture the opportunity I was photographing her.
